Sourdough Dessert Pizza With Berries

I had some leftover sourdough pizza dough and I did not want to take the chance of over-fermenting during the night. So I decided to make it into a quick dessert. The end result was way above expectations and I was so pleased when my little family ”fought” over the last bite!

You need: 200 grams (7 oz) sourdough pizza dough, 100 grams (3.5 oz) cream cheese, 1 table-spoon lemon curd, 1 and 1/2 table-spoon sugar, 3 table-spoon melted butter, 2 handfuls of raspberries and blueberries.

How to: gently shape the pizza dough into a round and place on a baking tray covered with baking paper. Mix the butter with the sugar and gently spread over the dough. Bake to 200 degrees (Celsius, 390 Fahrenheit) for 10 minutes. Mix the cream cheese with the lemon curd and spread over the warm pizza crust. Top with berries.

CONSIDERATIONS: This dessert represented the perfect ending to our pizza night. It was so convenient to be able to use the same dough for both the main course and the dessert. And the combination of textures and tastes was a wonderful surprise to the palate. Definitely a keeper.

This is going to YeastSpotting. Thank you again Sally, Frankie, and Stephanie for hosting the November posts.

  1. Very nice! I’ve only had dessert pizza with a sugar cookie crust and for some reason never was very thrilled with it. I think I would like this better!

  2. Oh yes indeed! I just happen to have all those ingredients floating around my kitchen. Yum.

  3. @Cityhippyfarmgirl: welcome back! if you try this let me know how it came out and whether your little ones liked it.

@Veronica: of course you can use this topping over any type of crust (even store-bought). Really easy and everyone here thought it was delicious :-)

  4. You had me at lemon curd (I think I would eat a piece of cardboard so long as it had lemon curd on top : p

Great idea (your recipe, not the cardboard/lemon curd thing) !
